The Incredible Rubicon Adventure

Last weekend we had the chance of a lifetime to go with some friends to the beautiful rugged wilderness of the famous Rubicon Jeep trail. We had originally planned for a one and a half day trip. But after one of the guys rolled his jeep on day one it sort of extended the time it would take for us to get all the way through the trail. What we planned would take us one day actually took three.

The first day on the trail it started snowing. The first snowfall of the year and of course we were there! There were 5 jeeps and each jeep had kids and moms and one pregnant mom, so we were not all thrilled about the freezing weather. The camping was actually pretty fun. Brad and I had found a nice propane space heater at Cabella's right before we went on the trip so everyone kind of piled in our tent for the trip. Well at least all the kids and moms did while the manly men did all the camp setup and cooking. haha!

Saturday night (2nd night of camping) rolled around and we were still in the wilderness (just a little over halfway through the trail). Good thing some people come prepared with extra food, clothes etc. We found camp around 8 PM. And even though we all thought we'd be back in our own beds that night everyone was in pretty good spirits. Two of the guys kept on driving all night and got home at 4:00 in the morning just so they could get the parts the broken rolled jeep needed to make it through the rest of the trail!

There are so many details I would like to be able to describe about the trip. It was by far the most amazing trip I've been on. And growing up with 7 brothers and a dad who loves hunting and camping and outdoor adventures, that says a lot!
