The Grand Tour!

We have been in our house for an entire week and a half now. haha. So far we have been having fun setting everything up and making it our own. We've unpacked all of the boxes, but the garage is still in a bit of disarray and we haven't been able to park in there yet. We are very excited to be moved in and living in OUR house!
Some of the things we love about the house is having more space for all of us to spread out a bit, having two stories, the quiet neighborhood and the pretty views of the mountains from upstairs and the view of the city/valley on the drive up to our house.
We love that there are nice countertops in the kitchen, a utility sink in the laundry room, a big bathtub in the master bathroom, and plenty of space and gardening potential in the back yard. I see this summer being full of fun outdoor time for all of us. :)

The first weekend we got the house, Grandma Leslie took the boys for us so Brad and I could get to work. We got so much done in that first weekend, we painted the house, pretty much top to bottom (everything but two bathrooms). We got carpets cleaned, spackled, filled in holes and scratches, etc., re-textured some areas and got the entire house cleaned. By the next weekend we were ready to move in! Leslie took the boys again for us (can't thank her enough!) so we could pack, move, unpack, organize, everything that goes along with moving.

Buying a short sale comes with a little more work since the owners don't usually clean or paint to make it look nice to make more money off the sale (since they aren't getting any money from the sale, they usually don't care and are sometimes upset and cause damage to the house when they leave). But after all of the homes we looked at, we liked how little work this house required, (not that painting isn't a ton of work). But overall, no torn up floors, gaping holes in the walls, missing hardware, appliances, etc. like some of the homes we looked at. We feel very blessed to end up getting this house even though we had put offers on other homes.

We also love having a big closet and a nice back-yard for the kids to run around in!

Here's to lots of new adventures in our new home!
